Drive Shaft Removal

I have taken the propshaft, rear diff and half shafts off of my trekka, I have driven about  6000 miles on this arrangement, I have loaded the car up, and towed a 1.5 tonne trailer, and I havn't died in a ball of flames. . . .  .yet. (-:

The traction control still works on the front wheels, until the power is transferred via the viscous couple to the rear prop ( which isn't there) then you are in the safe situation as someone in a normal car.

HOW TO

I won't go in to huge detail but basically you remove the propshaft and rear diff which will leave you with two floppy half shafts coming out of the rear wheels, so you remove theses shafts and then taking an angle grinder (gulp) you chop the wheel end off, and use it to resucure the back wheel to the car.

The diagram below shows how to make the cut. Work safe, use new driveshaft nuts.
