The Anti Snatch Device
Halfway along the prop shaft is a device that takes up the snatch in the
drive line, thus protecting the VERY expensive silicon 4 wheel drive
device located just before the diff. The anti snatch device comprises a
metal inner connected to a metal outer ring by rubber, it is the rubber
that splits/cracks and generally breaks up, eventually resulting in a
free spinning outer ring.
(NOTE: while you do the repair you can take this device off completely
and re-join the prop allowing you to keep driving the car. But drive her
VERY GENTLY, operating the clutch nice and smoothly to eliminate
driveline shocks)
To make a repair you will need to fill the cracks and gaps with a
product called SIKAFLEX (comes in tubes - basically it is a rubber that
sets soon after contact with air) |
